My name is E.S. Hayes III.  I am a former police officer of almost 15 years, son, husband and father.  For so long, policing was my identity, which lead to depression, cynicism, alcoholism and self withdrawal from society, especially after being exposed to such negativity day-in and day-out.

One day in 2019 changed everything for me.  While not this one sole incident or day, it became the catalyst to transform my views and life forever.  Without giving away the farm, my eyes were forced open, to begin to see the beauty within our world, as opposed to the negativity.

After seeking mental health help through counseling and behavior cognitive therapy, I began to recognize what I was experiencing and search for true meaning in my life.

I had begun writing Flaw Enforcement before all of these thoughts came to be, and continued writing throughout my journey.  It was just a living breathing journal up to that point anyway.  But the dichotomy within the writing is as if, two separate people wrote it.  But it was just me.  Two very different versions of me.
