About the author

A chara
I was born in Derry, Northern Ireland, in the mid-1960s and have been asked many times when travelling the world, “Why did the Troubles get so bad?” Or “What caused them to last so long?” Or even, “Why did they start?”
Based on actual events, the Stones Corner Tetralogy (Turmoil, Darkness, Light and Hope) will answer all these questions while taking you on a thrilling journey, a pilgrimage of heartache, bravery, treachery, and tragic love. From my own life experiences, I write about my childhood growing up during the Troubles, bringing with it sad, complicated, and bleak memories.
Many may cringe when they hear a book about the Irish conflict, and in a way, I understand, but I feel so passionately about helping others understand what life was like through a fictional tale. So far, I’ve been overwhelmed by the fantastic response and feedback. It’s surreal and has only fuelled my determination to get my stories into the world.
I moved back to Ireland a few short years ago, and I find it heartbreaking to hear the same language used in politics today as almost fifty years ago.
2023 is the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, which enables us to live on a peaceful, fantastic island. Still, this stability is highly fragile, and we should never take it for granted. I’m sure by reading my novels, you’ll agree.
