Imagine a world where you can live your most wonderful moments for what seems like a lifetime, where you can live and fall in love and be with your friends and Time doesn’t seem to touch you. A world of perpetual twilight where the sky is whatever beautiful color you can imagine and the atmosphere always feels cozy, a world where your local coffee shop always knows your order and the coffee never gets cold, or your iced coffee never gets warm. What if this world only exists for a chosen few, those enthralled by their chosen art form: painting, writing, filmmaking, music, etc.? Those cursed to have their beautiful works of arts be unseen and unheard; forgotten. What if it would only open up for those touched by Darkness? Finally, what if you fit the bill? Would you do whatever it took to escape to this other world? This Unreality.
Roni is one such person, a musician, singer and songwriter that’s felt forgotten their whole life and wanted nothing more than to escape. They caught glimpses of this Unreality and longed to be there amongst those like them; creatives.
Roni found a way to break through the Unreality and enter the Plane of the Forgotten, to become a denizen of The Stranding, where they would meet three others who’ve been affected similarly in their reality, three who’ve also felt forgotten, and form strong bonds with them. Tied by their fates and their friendships, the four eventually realize that this creatives paradise isn’t exactly the haven it’s meant to be, and that there are Forces of the Universe that have their wobbly bits entrenched in the lives of these four and others, controlling things in ways and manipulating both Reality and Unreality. Now Roni and their friends have to figure out what’s going on, face their demons, and work through their reality in order to heal and set everything in its right place.
This novel is heavily inspired by music, evensofar as to have lyrics as chapter titles. In order to experience the book to the fullest, I have made a playlist on Spotify to complement the novel. It’s called, The Soundtrack for the Forgotten. Give it a listen as you read and I promise you it will be an experience you’ll never forget.
