The Eulogist

G.M.Kidder

Carlos and Myra, two best friends for 30 years, at the latter end of their relationship and visit the past through Myra’s eyes, but on occasion another point of view digs a bit deeper. This story is about friendship, in the way friendships used to be written. Myra is somewhere between Mary Barton and Margaret Simon, Judy Blume’s most recognizable protagonist and Carlos would find himself comfortable within the pages of An Ideal Husband and The Hotel New Hampshire. Their usual antics are interrupted with the return of a jilted (Myra would disagree) lover. Myra fights her desire while Carlos feeds his, never letting his vow of chastity interfere. Father Benedict is a title that doesn’t confine Carlos to the hallowed halls of St. Augustine’s Church around the corner from Myra’s apartment, shared by her 15 year old son, Oliver. Like in life, this book is comic relief with a little heart break and a cast of characters to distract the protagonist from her redemption, wondering if she really needs it.

About the Author

As a writer I have worked within the political, municipal and non profit industries as well as various corporate entities.

My perspective has been formed over years of observation as the invisible person in the room that does the work to make other people look like they know what they are talking about.
